The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games.
I saw this coming but didn’t want to write about it. I knew the Cavs couldn’t beat them in a playoff series back in April. This did not surprise me at all.
The Cavs set a franchise record for wins with 66. Lebron James was voted the Most Valuable Player in the league. The team finished with more wins than any other team. They swept the first two rounds of the playoffs.
The team failed with an entire country looking forward to a Kobe Bryant v. Lebron James match-up in the Finals.
This is one more link in the chain of heartbreaks for this town, and as of tonight, I’m at my wits end. I don’t know how much more I can give without reciprocation. How many times does Lucy have to pull the football away from Charlie Brown until he stops trying to kick it?
I don’t believe in curses or luck. I believe in talent, match-ups, passion, and chance. For whatever reason, those have not aligned in this town for a long time.
What makes it worse is that now that the Cavs are done, I have to deal with the Indians (last place) and the Browns (near the bottom of all the pre-season power rankings) until the next NBA season starts.
Yes, there are more important things in life, but you play the game to win the game. And you are a fan of a team to witness a championship. Losing is never good.
Consecutive seasons in Cleveland since its last championship: 126
